Bo Gao

As the son of a Chinese ballad singer and a Beijing Opera performer, Bo Gao was constantly exposed to
music and dance as a child. Even with his immersion in the world of Chinese music and arts, Bo did not
begin his formal dance training until he attended the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy at the age of
18. Prior to his dance career, Bo spent seven years representing China as a member of the National
Junior Soccer Team, where he traveled, trained, and played internationally.
Bo began dancing with “Bei Wu Tang,” Beijing’s most prominent dance crew, in 2003. Bei Wu Tang’s
management saw the group’s goals as primarily commercial, while the dancers wanted to stay true to
their foundation as hip-hop artists. This ultimately led the group to disband in 2004, and became the
catalyst for Bo, fellow dancer Zheng Feng, and a number of their other crew-members to establish the
group “Five Plus Five.”
After just a few years, Five Plus Five began pioneering a new generation of street dance fashion and
culture. Quickly becoming one of the most reputable brands in all of China, Five Plus Five is now widely
accepted as China’s leading resource for street dance culture and has become a comprehensive
production company that coordinates and executes performances, events, digital media, and marketing.
As one of the most influential street dance artists in the world today, Bo is committed to his mission of
exploring and spreading all aspects of hip-hop fashion, culture, and lifestyle. He seeks to achieve his
vision by empowering hip-hop dancers and artists to hone their skills, hosting international competitions,
collaborating with community organizers to spread hip-hop culture, and promoting dancers to achieve
their fullest potential.

proliferate authentic street dance culture to China and the world.
